The Astros followed up taking three of four from the Mariners with a two-game sweep of the Athletics, winning 11-1 and 5-3.
The second of those two games was significant because Lance McCullers went 6 innings and 102 pitches deep on the heels of Ronel Blanco being lost for the season (and at least a good part of next season).
The big win on Tuesday provided a jolt to the expected win total, which now sits at 91.
Even better news is that, coupled with another Mariner loss, the Astros are just a half game out of first place in real life, but 3.8 games ahead in our projected standings.
More good news in the “Should Be” Standings is that Houston “should be” nearly at 31 wins, meaning they’ve been a tad unlucky, while the Mariners have been 0.58 games lucky.
