The Astros finished the first half of the season by sweeping the Phillies at Daikin park in a three-game series that saw only 6 runs scored and the Astros scoring five of them.
Very brief update today as I hit the road to be in Houston for tonight and tomorrow’s games, but the exact halfway point on a Friday and with a new series beginning was too good to pass up.
Expected Wins and Projected AL West Standings
Despite another win yesterday the expected wins remains at 94 due to the close nature of the games.
Why not the 96 that they are “on pace” for? Simple. A 17-7 record in one-run games and 5-1 in extras is a “pace” that’s not likely to last over 162 games.
Let’s revisit at season’s end for grins.
Houston has gained 8 expected wins in June.
The other thing this run has done is open up some distance in the real standings, with Seattle 6.5 back and Texas 7.5 back.
Projecting that out for the season in full we get the numbers below.
Batter and Pitcher Season Projections
