Roster construction and plate discipline are my major issues with this team (ignoring pitching for now). I would put Walker, Yainer, Dubon, Meyers, Melton and entire minor league roster (except Ullola) in trade pool. The first three contribute to our terrible plate discipline problem. My outside targets to go get are Alcantra SP,, B Donovan of Cards (to platoon with Brice at 2b/utulity), Yazstrmski (lefty bench guy on one year deal in FA), Rutchsman (out of favor in Balt) C to split time with re-signed Caratini and ,ahem maybe (mixed emotions) Luis Robert Jr CF
The only way to really change the “swing at everything” approach is to get/ develop players that are more patient.
Years ago a college basketball coach was asked what he could do to improve his team’s free throws and his answer was “Recruit better free throw shooters.”
You can only “teach” so much. Eventually it’s on the players.

Change out culprits…introduce different players with better hitting profiles….
