Another win for Houston, another loss for the Mariners leaves Seattle in a precarious place with 25 games to go.

Here’s the way I look at it.

Looking at it this way shows you why the odds are highly stacked in the Astros favor, but there is one caveat.

The numbers below are mine.

A season-long look at expected wins by my formula.

It’s been a slow and steady climb since early June, with a few smallish dips.

The One Caveat

While this all looks good for the Astros, I would hold off on celebrations.

These teams have three games scheduled in Houston on September 23,24,25 and three games of this lead could disappear in three days.

It’s not likely for obvious reasons, but it’s possible.

That’s why every game is important right now.
